The garden in front of main house
Two streams, from left and right come together there.
The buildings were built as the villa residence of Aritomo Yamagata, famous politician, in 1896. The garden work was done by the gardener Jihei Ogawa.. Aritomo deeply concerned in the garden design.

Upstream of the stream

There is a big pond. Usualy main pond is arranged in front of the main building. But the pond locates a little far in Murin-an. We can not see the main pond from the main house. It seems that streams are designed to be main view in this garden.
