 @Kenrokuen Garden was built on a hilly land in 17th century with elaborate design of water and landscape, by the fifth load of the Maeda family . The Garden is known as one of 3 Japanese best gardens. The water is taken from a weir 10km upstream. This long water channel was built by the order of 3rd load just after a big fire. Water from the Park is used for irrigation of downstream rice field. It was designed to use pond water for fire fighting in case of big fire, as the ponds locate relatively high place to send water. Artificial water fall and fountain were made using hilly geography.

There are two large ponds in the Park.
This ponds locates in the center of the Garden.
