@Kenrokuen Garden
was built on a hilly land in 17th century with elaborate design of water
and landscape, by the fifth load of the Maeda
family . The Garden is known as one of 3 Japanese best gardens. The water
is taken from a weir 10km upstream. This long water channel was built by
the order of 3rd load just after a big fire. Water from the Park is used
for irrigation of downstream rice field. It was designed to use pond water for fire
fighting in case of big fire, as the ponds locate relatively high place to
send water. Artificial water fall and fountain were made using hilly
geography.
